However - this what not enough for Haku. He longed for further perfection. And after he realized that the living world did not have anything valuable for him - Haku commited suicide
Haku didn't plan to remain forever in the human world as a soul but on his way to soul society, a hungry hollow has sensed the extreme spiritual pressure that Haku's soul was emitting. Having no chance to protect himself, Haku's soul got devoured and he was turned into a hollow himself.
Years passed. After the countless battles with other hollow and the devouring of souls, Haku's spiritual enrgy built up, until he and a few of the other hollows got merged into a Menos Grande. But Haku found out that he still regained his mind and the ability to think clearly, not turning into a mindless monster, like other Menos. And eventually... - a new arrancar was born somewhere in the endless White Desert
Haku wondered though the Desert... searching... eating more arrancar souls who were weaker than him. Becoming stronger. Wanting to become even MORE powerful. To improve himself. To achieve perfection!
After 50 years of gaining power, Haku finally came to Las Noches, where he easily has killed the 3rd Espada and gained his rank
